Nick Langhals completed his undergraduate education in Bioengineering at Arizona State University in May of 2001. He completed his Master's of Science in Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) in December of 2003. With the funding of the CNCT, Nick has taken a full-time staff position as a research engineer with the center. He is still progressing towards his Doctoral degree at the University of Michigan in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Nick's interests include electrode-tissue interface models, electrical stimulation models, and optimizing electrode materials for electrical stimulation as well as recording local field potential activity from the brain.

Nick is currently developing the new CNCT website!

Rachel graduated Cum Laude in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2003. Eager to broaden her knowledge and apply her studies to the human body and medicine she continued her studies achieving a Masters in Biomedical Engineering in Dec. 2004. Recently hired as the NEL’s first Lab Manager and Research Engineer, this new graduate’s involvement with the NEL actually started the previous year while she was completing her Masters with concentrations in both bioelectrics and biomechanics. In that time she worked closely with Kip Ludwig on the in vivo testing of his adaptive Bayesian filter program and took on the proof of concept testing of David Pellinen’s Flexi-Puff probes in vivo with successful results. A few of her present responsibilities include the mechanical aspects and design of the MINI, organization of all undergraduate projects, updating UCUCA/ULAM information and maintaining the NEL webpage.
